Hash Trail Markings Used By Fethiye H3

The trail is marked by “hash” which with Fethiye H3 is flour, normally a handful of hash is dropped so that it can be found without too much difficulty from the last drop. A cry of on-on will be heard when hash is found. The trail should be straight between hash spots, change of direction marks are shown below.

All markings below are drawn with hash (flour)

Circle Check (check point):- Where the trail may go in any direction, will normally be fairly obvious tracks, front runners will find the true trail and break the circle to show that direction. A false trail should be marked with no more than two spots of hash and a false trail sign.

Change of direction :- Three piles of hash leading to the new direction.

Another option to change direction is to form an arrow in hash pointing in new direction.

Back Arrow :- An arrow pointing at you, means turn around and find true trail, normally to slow down the runners a bit.

End of false trail marker :- Line marked out in has with arrow pointing towards you, works similar to back arrow.

HP

Holding point :- Similar to a view point in that it will have a view, but is also to let slower walkers catch up.
